On 27 June, Melanie Huml, Minister of State for European and International Affairs, opened the foundation "Jugendaustausch Bayern" which aims to promote international youth exchanges between young Bavarians and people from other cultures all over the world.
"Social, cultural or financial factors still often play a decisive role when it comes to international encounters in childhood or adolescence. This must change", Huml said and announced that the Bavarian State Chancellary will give € 30 million until 2031 to offer every young person of Bavaria the possibility to get to know new cultures.
The foundation will expand existing funding and initiate innovative projects, especially taking otherwise hard-to-reach target groups into account. Important actors in international youth work will be brought together to work together on offers in the field of youth exchange for Bavaria.
