On 12 July 2022, with the support of the Bavarian State Chancellery, the vocational school in Youndé, the capital of Cameroon /West Africa, was officially opened. Numerous guests of honour and many festively dressed people from the area, rich and poor, attended the opening.

Sewing machines and tools are unpacked, the teachers are highly motivated!

The Yaoundé vocational school is intended to provide young people with a solid education based on the German model. Since the beginning of August, the first girls and boys have started their apprenticeship: 9 girls in the tailoring workshop and 10 boys and one girl in the carpentry workshop.

The schooling starts step by step.

Further apprenticeships will follow, among others in the fields of electrics and solar technology.

The supporting association "Wings for Africa e.V." is committed to providing free schooling for disadvantaged boys and girls, some of whom come from orphanages or directly from the streets, and thus gives these young people prospects for a self-determined life.
